Corner Fireplaces

The focal point of most rooms in a house is the fireplace normally, it is where the family will snuggle together on a cold winter evening and also entertain their guests with a welcoming warmth from the fireplace. Most standard fireplaces ate placed flat against the wall but what can you do if space is limited and you need to make the most of the available room that you have. One solution is to add a corner fireplace, not only will this tuck neatly into the corner of the room leaving the rest of the room free for other items of furniture but corner fireplaces will also emit their heat at all angles giving your living area an all round warmth.

The only drawback with using this style of fire place is the mantle and hearth has to be of a diagonal shape to sit flush in the area, this is not to everyone's taste but there are many suppliers available to meet that criteria. If you have no corner chimney to place your fireplace near this can be overcome by using flue-less fires or even wood burning stoves that can have a chimney running up the wall and leading out of the house by a simple exit that has been made through the exterior wall.

Plan carefully which corner of the room to place your corner fireplace, look at the space available on the walls after doorways and windows have eaten into this. In many of the home furnishing magazines, corner fireplaces often have the furniture close to them as they are usually used in smaller rooms, make sure that there is enough space for human traffic to pass by the fireplace and furniture without causing hazards.

As stated above there are many suppliers who now deal in corner fireplaces so browse around and choose carefully, always select a style that will fit in with the room surroundings and will match the décor, a mismatched fireplace will stand out.
