Being an avid lover of fireplaces naturally, I had always wanted a home with one. To no such luck I never ended up buying a home with an existing fireplace and the homes I did buy it was just too expensive or not feasible to install one. Needless to say, when I heard about the gel fireplaces I was curious.
After seeing that these fireplaces required no venting or special conditions, I was almost sold on the idea. Yes, I had heard about electric fireplaces and had contemplated purchasing one but gave up on the idea with the cost of hydro being so high. That is another aspect of the gel fireplace that was so inviting. The gel fuel only costs about a $1. per hour to run.
The biggest difficulty I had when purchasing my gel fireplace was which one to choose. I could not believe at how you could go around to various website distributors of gel fireplaces and see such a large array of styles and sizes. It seemed like it was taking me forever to choose but I finally did. I actually ended up with a traditional mantle style in mahogany for my living room at home. I did not stop there though I also purchased an ultra modern wall mount for my office. I have been absolutely thrilled with both my choices. They are quick to install, no mess no fuss and really economical to both buy and fuel.
The one thing that I found I had to be cautious about was the increase in the humidity. Items in the room had a tendency to feel a bit damp and I was cautious about mould forming. This problem was easily correctly by utilizing a small dehumidifier.
